Claudia Pfeiffer has been the George L. Ohrstrom, Jr. Curator at the National Sporting Library & Museum since the position was underwritten by the George L. Ohrstrom, Jr. Foundation in 2012. Her primary focus is the research, design, interpretation, writing, and installation of exhibitions. Pfeiffer has curated over 20 exhibitions; her projects include Munnings Out in the Open:The Open-Air Works of Alfred Munnings (English, 1878 – 1959), Clarice Smith: Power & Grace, The Chronicle of the Horse in Art, and Sidesaddle, 1690-1935.
Pfeiffer has a twenty-year background in fine art and exhibitions. From 1994 to 1998, she was the director of Hardcastle Gallery in Wilmington and Centreville, DE. In 1998, Pfeiffer moved to Virginia to work at Red Fox Fine Art, a gallery in Middleburg specializing in animal, sporting, and American paintings and sculpture. During her thirteen year tenure, she was assistant director and then director beginning in 2005.
Additionally, Pfeiffer has a special interest in digital photography of two- and three-dimensional works, lighting, and image post-processing. She studied Biology and English at the University of Delaware and is fluent in German. Pfeiffer currently lives in Front Royal with her husband and two children.
