Dana Stefanelli was previously Curator of Special Collections at the George Washington Presidential Library at Mount Vernon, where he was responsible for the acquisition and management of books and documents created before 1900. Prior to that, he was the library’s editor of the Papers of George Washington, with responsibilities split between Mount Vernon and the Charlottesville-based documentary editing project. He has a Ph.D. in history from the University of Virginia, where he wrote a dissertation about the founding of Washington, D.C., and has taught at a few Virginia colleges. Before joining the historical profession, he served as a legislative aide on Capitol Hill.
