The NSLM is closed on Federal Holidays.

NSLM is a proud participant in Museum for All, a cooperative initiative between the Institute of Museum and Library Services and the Association of Children's Museums, to offer a signature access program that encourages families of all backgrounds to visit cultural institutions regularly and build lifelong museum and library habits. Individuals with a valid SNAP / EBT card have free admission for up to four people.

From Washington D.C.

• Take Route 66 west into Virginia.
• Take exit 57B Route 50 west/Fair Oaks/Winchester.
• Continue approximately 20 miles until you reach Middleburg.
• Just past the Mt Defiance Cidery & Distillery, turn left onto The Plains Road.
• Continue about 50 yards and turn right into the NSLM driveway.

From Washington Dulles Airport (IAD)

• At airport exit, follow signs for Rt. 28 south towards Centerville.
• Exit onto Rt. 50 west towards Winchester.
• Continue approximately 15 miles until you reach Middleburg.
• Just past the Mt Defiance Cidery & Distillery, turn left onto The Plains Road.
• Continue about 50 yards and turn right into the NSLM driveway.

From the North or South via Route 15

• Take Route 15 to Route 50 west.
• Continue on 50 west approximately 10 miles until you reach Middleburg.
• Just past the Mt Defiance Cidery & Distillery, turn left onto The Plains Road.
• Continue about 50 yards and turn right into the NSLM driveway.

From the West via I-81 and Route 50

• Take Route 50 east.
• Continue on 50 east approximately 29 miles until you reach Middleburg.
• In Middleburg, turn right onto The Plains Road.
• Continue about 50 yards and turn right into the NSLM driveway.
