American Rivers: Connect & Protect
On Thursday, April 17, the National Sporting Library & Museum (NSLM) welcomes Tom Kiernan, President and CEO of American Rivers, for a cocktail reception followed by a conversation about the vital role rivers play in ensuring clean water and protecting nature and how we can help build a healthy future for our rivers and waters.
The survival of every living thing depends on clean water, most of which comes from rivers. Rivers are critical to our health and natural heritage. These precious waterways help us connect with nature and enjoy the great outdoors — from fishing to hunting to hiking, the sky's the limit.
Today, pollution, crumbling infrastructure, and increasingly devastating storms threaten our rivers and water. These factors have a profound impact on our health and well-being. Nature is suffering, too. Freshwater wildlife is dying off twice as quickly as land or ocean species. Everything we cherish is on the line. It's time to band together to protect and restore the rivers on which all life depends.
Life depends on rivers. It’s not just that rivers make our lives better. We can’t survive without them.
