John Frederick “Fred” Herring, Jr., followed in the footsteps of his artist father, Herring, Sr., painting portraits of horses and other animals. This charming scene of animals in a barnyard was a common subject for the younger Herring, and was also a subject favored by his father during the latter part of his career.
